The Education Network is currently recruiting for an outstanding SEN teacher and tutor in South Manchester who need to cover a sickness until July 2018. This is to work with a child who is on autistic spectrum and isn't currently accessing mainstream education.

This position is to support a child who is currently not in school, is ASD and has other complex learning and health needs.

In this role you will need to:

Assess the specific child and work with to identify individual pupils' special needs
Develop and adapt conventional teaching methods to meet the individual needs of this pupil
Use specialist skills, such as teaching PECS or Makaton to aid communication
Collaboration with the Local authorities, parents and EHCP to enable effective learning
work with the head teacher and governing body to ensure that the requirements of the Equality Act (2010) are met in terms of reasonable adjustments and access arrangements
Work closely with parents and guardians
Organise learning outside the classroom in activities such as community visits, school outings or sporting events (depending upon needs of child)
Manage behaviour.

Essential qualifications:
QTS status, and experience of working in an SEN environment
Experience of working with KS1-KS4 children with ASC.

Commitment to working with pupils with special educational needs
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
The ability to manage confrontation and challenging behaviour
A positive, energetic and enthusiastic outlook; patience, understanding and empathy with pupils and parents
