Job Details

Learning Resource and Intervention specialist required for September 2018 based in South Manchester

You will be required to be responsible for an effective resource provision and intervention support.
You will need:
Library skills
To prepare with the Literacy Coordinator the library policy and library development plan.
To be responsible for the general management of the library as a resource base and manage student conduct in the library
To develop and manage the operation, systems and procedures of the resource centre in accordance with agreed policies/plans.
To prepare and deliver Reading and Study Skills Programmes including the production of information and work booklets, some which may require differentiating.
To prepare and deliver Year 6 taster sessions including reading profile and work booklets (data from profile for use of English Team, LSU and Literacy Team).
To develop library homework sessions with students.
To manage and control stock, including researching resource availability, cost, purchasing materials through finance.
To maintain and use links with external library services to develop school resources.
To develop, promote and run library sessions with teaching staff and years 7 - 11
To catalogue all books and other resources and to take responsibility for maintaining a tidy and accessible resource centre including the production and arrangement of relevant displays/notices etc.
Intervention skills
To carry out intervention support (1:1 / small groups) for literacy / EAL / Spld as directed.
To undertake supervision of students at breaks and lunchtimes. To assist in the implementation and management of Guided Reading Programmes and alternatives.
To prepare and deliver Reading and Study Skills Programmes including the production of information and work booklets, some which may require differentiating.
To prepare and deliver Year 6 taster sessions including reading profile and work booklets (data from profile for use of English Team, LSU and Literacy Team).
To implement local/national learning strategies e.g. literacy, numeracy and make effective use of opportunities provided by other learning activities.

Essential:
To understand library systems and cataloguing
Be able to tutor, plan and assess single students and groups
